EYFS Teaching Assistant (Full time, temporary)

Salary: £85-£115
Education Personnel is supporting a friendly, community-orientated primary school in the DE21 area of Derby to recruit a dedicated EYFS Teaching Assistant. This welcoming school is recognised locally for its fantastic Early Years provision and its unique ‘Discovery Garden’ outdoor learning space, which allows children to explore, play, and learn in a safe, stimulating environment every day. Its well-respected early years team is known for creating a warm, play-rich setting that prioritises early language development and strong relationships with families—ensuring every child feels settled, confident, and ready to learn.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a caring and motivated EYFS TA who is passionate about supporting young children at the very start of their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the delivery of high-quality, play-based learning aligned with the EYFS framework
* Assist with planning and preparing engaging activities to promote communication, personal development, and early literacy/numeracy
* Provide nurturing and targeted support to children with emerging language needs, SEND, or those requiring additional encouragement
* Help facilitate continuous provision across indoor and outdoor settings
* Observe, record, and contribute to assessments such as Learning Journeys and EYFS profiles
* Build strong relationships with parents and carers to support a consistent home–school partnership
* Encourage an inclusive, positive atmosphere where every child feels safe and valued
* Work collaboratively with the early years team and contribute to wider school life
Requirements:
* Experience working with children in an EYFS environment (nursery or reception)
* Good understanding of the EYFS framework and early child development
* Ability to support children with varying needs, including early speech and language and social/emotional development
* Confident in delivering small-group and 1:1 activities
* Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills
* Warm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting young learners
* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Early Years/Teaching Assistant qualification)
