Fabrication & Welding Technician
Location: Rotherham
Salary: DOE
Hours: Full - Time
Contract Type: Temporary until 19th December 2025
Join a leading education provider in South Yorkshire, working confidentially on behalf of our client, to support the Fabrication & Welding department in delivering outstanding technical education. This is a hands-on role where your experience and initiative will help shape the next generation of engineers.
You’ll be based in a fully equipped workshop, supporting both staff and students during practical sessions. From prepping materials to maintaining machinery, your technical know-how will keep everything running smoothly. You’ll also play a key role in improving workshop processes and ensuring a safe, efficient learning environment.
Responsibilities include:
* Preparing and setting out equipment and materials for practical lessons
* Providing safety cover during sessions
* Assisting with apparatus construction and material prep
* Distributing and tracking tools and consumables
* Maintaining cleanliness and safety in the workshop
* Securing equipment and rooms
* Performing routine machinery maintenance
* Monitoring and ordering stock
* Reporting equipment loss or damage
* Maintaining stock records
* Attending team meetings
* Providing first aid (with training)
* Supporting other college areas as needed
What we’re looking for:
* Strong background in fabrication and welding
* Level 2 NVQ or equivalent in Fabrication & Welding
* Level 2 Literacy & Numeracy standard
* Good working knowledge of safeguarding within an educational setting
* Experience in a workshop or technical support role
* Organised, safety-conscious, and proactive
* Able to support learners and staff effectively
* A team player with a hands-on approach
* Enhanced DBS within the last three years (required)
