Facilities Assistant - Attraction Industry
📍 Location: Saffron Walden
💼 Salary: £26,520 per annum + additional pay for callouts
🚗 Transport: Pool car available on site; must be able to travel to site independently
📅 Contract Type: Permanent
🕒 Working Hours: Core hours 9am-5pm, with split shifts during busy periods (e.g. Halloween & Christmas):
Early shift: 8am-4pm
Late shift: 2:30pm-8:30pm
📆 Weekend Work: Every other weekend, with 2 weekdays off (e.g. work Sat-Wed, then 4 days off)Are you a practical, proactive individual with a flair for carpentry and creativity? We're looking for a Facilities Assistant to join our team at a thriving visitor attraction in Saffron Walden. This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same - from maintaining the site and supporting events to crafting unique wooden features from forest materials.
🔧 About the Role
You'll be responsible for keeping the site safe, clean, and functional, including overseeing an on-site AirBnB property. Carpentry is a key part of the role, and your creativity will be valued as we often use natural materials to build and display features around the site.
🛠 Key Responsibilities
Carpentry & Creative Projects: Build and maintain wooden structures and features using materials from the forest
General Maintenance: Basic plumbing, lighting, and electrical checks and repairs
AirBnB Oversight: Maintain plumbing systems, toilets, taps, and general upkeep of the guest accommodation
Cleaning & Upkeep: Ensure public areas, restrooms, and outdoor spaces are clean and tidy
Supply Management: Monitor and reorder stock and equipment
Event Support: Set up rooms and furniture for seasonal events and daily operations
Repairs & Fault Reporting: Log issues and coordinate with contractors for resolution
Health & Safety: Support risk assessments and ensure compliance across the site
Porterage: Assist with deliveries and moving equipment/furniture
Administrative Support: Answer phones, manage visitor bookings, archive documents
Contractor Coordination: Liaise with and supervise external maintenance teams🌟 What We're Looking For
