The Factory Engineering Manager is responsible for leading textile processing plant based in Bilston. The main duties of the role are managing the engineering and maintenance functions to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety of all production equipment. The role focuses on minimising downtime, implementing robust planned preventive maintenance (PPM) programs, and driving continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with production and OEM partners.
Responsibilities
Health & Safety:
* Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety regulations across all engineering and maintenance activities
* Conduct HSE audits and report near misses and any hazardous conditions.
* Promote a culture of safety-first within the engineering team and contractors.
* Conduct and review risk assessments and implement safe systems of work.
Leadership & Team Management:
* Lead, manage, and develop the engineering and maintenance team to achieve site objectives.
* Allocate daily tasks and priorities, ensuring effective resource utilisation.
* Monitor team performance, providing coaching, support, and development opportunities.
Equipment Maintenance & Downtime Reduction:
* Ensure production equipment is maintained to the highest standards to maximise uptime and efficiency.
* Respond promptly to breakdowns, diagnose faults, and coordinate effective repairs.
* Analyse downtime data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Define, develop, and implement robust PPM programs for all critical plant and equipment.
* Schedule and coordinate planned maintenance activities to minimise production disruption.
* Review and improve maintenance schedules based on performance data and OEM recommendations.
Continuous Improvements & Projects:
* Identify and implement engineering improvements to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
* Support capital investment projects, including installation and commissioning of new equipment.
* Drive initiatives to reduce energy consumption, waste, and operational costs within engineering scope
Communication & Reporting:
* Identify and implement engineering improvements to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and safety.
* Support capital investment projects, including installation and commissioning of new equipment.

Facility Management:
* Manage all aspects of factory building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical systems, and general facility upkeep.
* Monitor and manage budgets related to maintenance and engineering projects.
Must have skills
Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
Excellent technical knowledge of production machinery and maintenance practices.
Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation faults.
Proactive problem-solving approach with a focus on root cause analysis and sustainable solutions.
Experience and Qualifications
Proven experience in an engineering management or senior maintenance role within a manufacturing environment.
Recognised engineering qualification (e.g. HNC/HND or higher in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering).
Experience in implementing and managing PPM systems.
Familiarity with Health & Safety and compliance standards for manufacturing sites.
Experience working with OEMs and managing contractor relationships
