About the Factory Technical Manager job
We are seeking a strong and confident leader with a proven track record in managing complex food manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will oversee and implement robust technical standards, quality assurance processes, and compliance systems. With expert knowledge and strategic influence, they will drive continuous improvement, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the business in maintaining the highest industry standards.
Key tasks
* Ensure all products meet food safety, quality, and regulatory standards (HACCP, GMP, BRC, customer requirements). Oversee quality control, internal audits, and non-conformance actions.
* Optimise production efficiency by overseeing technical processes, equipment performance, and SOP implementation. Drive continuous improvement in manufacturing.
* Lead Quality and Hygiene teams, manage budgets, train staff, and foster a culture of safety, hygiene, and continuous improvement. Represent customer and consumer interests.
* Work with R&D and customer teams on product innovation, feasibility of new production techniques, and technical improvements.
* Ensure adherence to food safety and environmental standards, track key KPIs (efficiency, waste, downtime, quality issues), and drive sustainability initiatives.
About You
* You should possess a degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food/Production Engineering, or a related discipline and be a results orientated individual with adherence to high standards and continuous improvement.
* The successful candidate shall have experience within a factory floor based technical management role – ideally 5 years.
* Certifications in Advanced HACCP, Advanced Food Safety, or equivalent food safety programs, and Lead Auditor certified would be desirable.

The Factory Technical Manager job (ref:8928) is paying £60,000 plus a discretionary 3% bonus stretched to 5% based on company performance.
The package also includes a pension (5% employer contribution), 31 days holiday, life assurance, sickness pay and bereavement leave, Employee Assistance Programme, company and employee events and free / discounted products.
The site is based in Monmouthshire, South Wales and is commutable from Cardiff, Newport, Bristol and Abergavenny.
The working week is Monday to Friday.
