Job Description

Are you a skilled and resilient professional with a passion for supporting young people and their families? We are seeking a dedicated Family Intervention Officer to join our compassionate pastoral team at a secondary school in Blackpool. In this crucial role, you will be the key link between the school and our families, providing targeted support to help overcome barriers to learning and improve student outcomes. You will play a vital part in our commitment to early help and ensuring every student has the best possible chance to succeed. Key Responsibilities Lead on targeted interventions to support vulnerable students and their families, addressing issues like poor attendance, low engagement, and challenging behaviour. Work proactively with the school's safeguarding team, acting as a crucial contact for child protection concerns and coordinating with external agencies. Conduct home visits and one-to-one meetings to build trust and foster strong parental engagement and home-school partnerships. Develop and implement action plans with families to address complex needs and signpost them to appropriate multi-agency services in the Blackpool area. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all interventions and support provided. The Ideal Candidate We are looking for an empathetic and dynamic individual with a strong understanding of the challenges facing families. Essential qualifications and experience: A relevant Level 3 qualification (or higher) in social work, youth work, or a related field. Proven experience as a Family Intervention Officer or in a similar targeted support role, preferably within an educational setting. In-depth knowledge of safeguarding procedures and pastoral care. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to handle sensitive situations with professionalism and resilience. A clean driving license and access to a vehicle for home visits.
