Head of Family Lawyer Position Overview:
Lead, develop and grow a well-established and respected Family department
Advise on complex, high-value privately funded family matters, including substantial assets and complex financial arrangements
Shape the strategic direction and future of the team
Support and mentor colleagues while maintaining high standards of client care
Genuine leadership responsibility with strong opportunities for developmentKey Responsibilities of the Head of Family Lawyer:
Managing a varied caseload of privately funded family matters, including divorce, financial remedy and children arrangements, from instruction through to resolution
Advising clients on complex and high-value financial matters with sensitivity and professionalism
Conducting detailed legal research and case analysis, liaising with experts, counsel and the courts
Providing empathetic, client-focused support and keeping clients informed throughout
Leading and developing the Family team, fostering a positive and collaborative environment
Supervising and mentoring junior staff, apprentices and trainee solicitors
Driving business development through referrer relationships, networking and marketing events
Contributing to the strategic direction and growth of the departmentRequirements of the Head of Family Lawyer:
Qualified Solicitor, Chartered Legal Executive or equivalent with significant privately funded family law expertise (typically around 8 years' experience or more)
Demonstrable experience advising clients with substantial assets and complex financial arrangements
Strong leadership qualities with the ability to develop and grow a team
Excellent client care skills with an empathetic and commercially minded approach
Effective negotiation and strategic thinking skills
A collaborative team player with a passion for delivering outstanding client care
