Temporary Social Worker - Family Safeguarding (Children's Services)
Location: Surrey
Rate: £42 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary (Full-time)
Duration: 3-6 months
Surrey County Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Social Worker to join our Family Safeguarding Teams on a temporary basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to work within a strengths-based, relationship-focused model that supports families to make positive changes and keep children safely at home.
About the Role:
You will provide high-quality statutory social work to children and families at Tier 4 of Surrey's Effective Family Resilience model. Using motivational interviewing and SMART planning, you'll assess needs, reduce risks, and work collaboratively with families and professionals to improve outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Complete statutory assessments and develop outcome-focused care plans.
Lead child protection investigations and contribute to legal planning and proceedings.
Work closely with multi-agency partners to deliver integrated support.
Maintain accurate case records and prepare documentation for court and tribunals.
Participate in reflective supervision and group work programmes.Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW or equivalent) and registered with Social Work England.
Substantial experience in statutory children's services and safeguarding.
Strong understanding of UK child care law, safeguarding procedures, and multi-agency working.
Excellent communication, assessment, and planning skills.
Satisfactory DBS clearance and willingness to travel across Surrey.
