Family Support Assistant Needed

Hours: 2.5 hours per morning, 4 mornings per week
Focus: Family support, household organisation and supporting a highly anxious young person who is educated other than at school (EOTAS)
Quantum Scholars is looking for a calm, compassionate and reliable Family Support Assistant to work with a family in Wokingham. This is a practical, hands-on role supporting both the family and a highly anxious young person who is currently receiving their education through an EOTAS arrangement.
A key part of this role will be providing practical household support, helping to keep the home calm, tidy and organised. This will include tasks such as cleaning, tidying, organising household spaces, light cooking and general day-to-day tasks that help the family maintain a manageable and supportive home environment.
Alongside the practical household responsibilities, you will also provide calm and reassuring support to the young person. Consistency, patience, discretion and sensitivity are extremely important, and the successful candidate will be someone who is comfortable balancing practical household duties with a warm and supportive approach to the young person and their family.
The role may involve
Household & Practical Support
Carrying out general cleaning and tidying around the home.
Helping to keep shared and living spaces organised, clean and manageable.
Organising household items, belongings and learning spaces where required.
Helping with general day-to-day household tasks to support the smooth running of the home.
Preparing simple meals and light cooking for the family where required.
Helping with basic kitchen duties, such as preparing ingredients, loading/unloading the dishwasher and keeping food preparation areas tidy.
Supporting with laundry and other light household duties where appropriate.
Taking a practical, proactive approach to identifying tasks that would help the household run more smoothly.
Helping to create a calm, structured and organised home environment.Family & Young Person Support
Building a positive, trusting relationship with the young person and their family.
Providing calm, consistent and reassuring support to a highly anxious young person.
Supporting the young person to engage with learning, activities and their wider EOTAS provision where appropriate.
Helping to reduce barriers to engagement by providing patient and sensitive support.
Accompanying or supporting the young person with activities in the home or community where required.
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive routines at an appropriate pace.
Working closely with parents or carers and other professionals involved in the young person's education and support.
Observing and communicating any changes, concerns or progress to the relevant professionals.
Maintaining clear professional boundaries while developing a warm and supportive working relationship.
Following safeguarding procedures at all times.Essential requirements
Experience supporting children or young people, ideally within education, SEND, pastoral support, family support, youth work or a similar setting.
A calm, patient and empathetic approach, particularly when supporting a young person experiencing high levels of anxiety.
A willingness and ability to carry out cleaning, tidying, organising and general household tasks as a significant part of the role.
Confidence with basic cooking and preparing simple meals.
A practical, proactive and flexible attitude towards household and family support.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
The ability to work sensitively and professionally with parents, carers and other professionals.
Reliability, consistency and the ability to work independently within agreed boundaries.
Availability to work 2.5 hours per morning, 4 mornings per week.
A good understanding of safeguarding and the importance of confidentiality.
Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
