Family Support Worker
Location: Bradford
Client: Bradford Metropolitan District Council
Contract Type: Temporary (3 months)
Hours: Full time (37 hours)
Salary: £15.66 per hour (Umbrella)
About the Role: The Family Support Worker will assess the needs of families with children aged 0–5 years and provide tailored support, advice, and guidance. The role focuses on early intervention and improving the quality of care within and outside the family environment. The post holder will work collaboratively with the BD5 Cluster of Children’s Centres and multi-agency teams to deliver a seamless service to families.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake assessments of family needs and develop support proposals.
Deliver preventative services and support for families under stress.
Provide information and guidance to parents about available services.
Work with multi-agency teams to meet the needs of children and families.
Assist in identifying special needs and safeguarding concerns.
Attend case conferences and contribute to service planning and evaluation.
Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required.
Support the development of parent support groups.Experience & Knowledge
Essential:
Minimum 2 years’ experience working with children and families.
Experience in community settings, especially in multi-ethnic areas.
Knowledge of child development and early intervention strategies.
Understanding of cultural diversity and family stress factors.Desirable:
Experience in counselling, child protection, and applying for family support funding.
Knowledge of special needs and disability support services.Skills & Competencies
Strong planning, organisational, and record-keeping skills.
Effective communication across various media and audiences.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Additional language skills (e.g., Sylheti, Urdu, Punjabi, Pushto) are desirable.Additional Requirements
Must be legally entitled to work in the UK.
Enhanced DBS check required.
Flexibility to work out of hours (no additional payment).
