Family Support Worker – Residential Family Assesment Centre 📍 Location: Southampton, England 🕒 Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week) Plus On Call Service 💷 Salary: £26000 to £28000 per annum (FTE) Plus Shift Allowance 📄 Permanent | Enhanced DBS required Days & Nights Available Are you passionate about supporting families to create safe and nurturing environments for their children? Do you want to be part of a dedicated team making a real difference in the lives of vulnerable families? We are seeking a Family Support Worker to join our Residential Family Centre in Opening in Southampton, where you'll play a key role in supporting parents and children as they undergo family assessments. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a specialist team helping to safeguard children and promote positive parenting. About the Role As a Family Support Worker, you'll work closely with parents and children in a residential setting, offering practical support, guidance, and role modelling in areas such as parenting, daily routines, and emotional wellbeing. You’ll support the delivery of robust and evidence-based parenting assessments, working as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure children are safe and families are given the best opportunity to grow and succeed. Key Responsibilities * Support families in line with their placement plans and assessment objectives. * Provide consistent, positive role modelling in parenting and child development. * Encourage family participation in planned activities, assessments, and community involvement. * Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all residents. * Monitor and report on progress through clear and professional record-keeping. * Participate in shift work, including sleep-ins and the on-call rota. * Work closely with colleagues, social workers, and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children. What We’re Looking For Qualifications: • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to work towards it). Experience: • Previous experience working with children and families is desirable, though not essential – full training will be provided. Skills & Attributes: * Confidence working with parents with complex needs. * Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to deal with challenging behaviour in a calm and constructive way. * Strong team player with a positive and professional attitude. * Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
