Family Time Worker – Children’s Services (Staying Safe) Location: Bolton Contract: Ongoing temporary assignment Contact: (url removed) Are you passionate about supporting children and families to build safer, healthier relationships? Bolton Council’s Staying Safe Service is looking for dedicated Family Time Workers to join their Family Time team and help improve outcomes for Looked After Children (LAC) and their families. This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with children and parents, delivering high-quality Family Time sessions, supporting parental capacity, and contributing to assessments that guide meaningful decisions for a child’s future. Key Responsibilities As a Family Time Worker, you will: Support the protection and safeguarding of children by identifying risks and contributing to risk assessments. Deliver structured, high-quality Family Time sessions and direct work with parents, carers, and children. Communicate session planning, delivery, and outcomes clearly within case notes and recording systems. Use evidence-based strategies, including EYFS guidance, to support child development and positive parenting. Work alongside Social Workers to contribute to assessments, rehabilitation plans, and care planning. Develop activities suitable for children with a range of needs, including disabilities or behavioural challenges. Escort children and families where required. Manage your caseload efficiently using agreed systems, rotas, and calendars. Support and mentor students or volunteers within the service. Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to provide seamless support to families. Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, to meet service demands. Requirements To be successful in this role, you should have: A relevant Level 3 qualification (e.g., NNEB, NVQ3, BTEC, Early Years, Childcare, Health & Social Care, Youth & Community Studies). Experience supporting children and families within community or statutory services. Experience working within a multi-agency environment. Strong communication, organisational, and time-management skills. The ability to implement interventions that prevent family breakdown and promote positive outcomes. A full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle (essential car user role). Willingness to work outside normal office hours and undertake mandatory training. An Enhanced DBS check is required for this position.
