Farm Operations Manager – Fresh Produce | South East England
Are you an experienced farm professional with a passion for operational efficiency, sustainable agriculture, and team leadership? A rewarding opportunity has arisen for a Farm Operations Manager to take the lead in day-to-day agricultural operations within a well-established fresh produce business based in the South East.
In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing all farm operations across vegetable and arable enterprises, overseeing estate maintenance, machinery, and seasonal labour. Working closely with a skilled and motivated team, you will play a key part in ensuring high standards of productivity, compliance, and farm presentation, while supporting the long-term strategic objectives of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee all on-farm operations, including crop establishment, cultivation, harvest logistics, and maintenance of the wider estate.
* Lead and support full-time and seasonal operational staff, ensuring high standards of performance and health & safety.
* Act as the internal contractor for the farm, delivering all required operations efficiently and to agreed timelines.
* Manage arable cropping, including purchasing inputs, grain storage and outloading, and working with agronomists and buyers.
* Maintain all farm machinery, vehicles, and irrigation systems to ensure legal compliance and operational reliability.
* Control budgets, monitor costs, and secure best value on consumables, parts, and services.
* Maintain tidy, secure, and well-presented farmyards, workshops, and storage facilities.
* Work towards regenerative farming goals and environmental improvement across the estate.
About You:
* Significant experience in a similar farm operations or agricultural management role.
* Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and develop a diverse workforce.
* Solid understanding of arable farming practices, machinery use, and estate management.
* Confident in handling compliance, audits, and health & safety responsibilities.
* Forward-thinking, with an interest in innovation and sustainable agriculture.
* Well-organised, proactive, and practical, with strong communication skills.
