A specialist SEN college in Southwark is currently seeking a committed and adaptable Unqualified Teacher or Further Education (FE) Tutor to join its team from September 2025 to provide maternity cover for one academic year.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and supporting young people aged 16–25 with a range of special educational needs, including autism, moderate to severe learning difficulties, and additional communication needs.
The Role
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, person-centred teaching within the college’s Foundation Learning and Preparation for Adulthood pathways. This may include Functional Skills (English, Maths, ICT), independent living, employability, and personal and social development.

A tutor or instructor with a background in FE or adult learning

A motivated individual with a flexible approach to teaching learners with diverse needs
Key Responsibilities
*
Plan and deliver engaging, accessible lessons tailored to individual learning needs
*
Support students in working towards accredited qualifications or RARPA-based learning outcomes
*
Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and the wider support team to meet EHCP goals
*
Monitor and record learner progress and contribute to review meetings
*
Create a safe, inclusive, and motivating learning environment
Candidate Requirements
*
Experience working with young people with SEN, preferably in an educational or youth setting
*
A sound understanding of Functional Skills, Entry Level qualifications or life skills curriculum (desirable)
*
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
*
A learner-centred, compassionate approach to teaching
*
A relevant teaching qualification is desirable but not essential — full training and CPD opportunities will be provided
