Job Description
Central is currently recruiting for two permanent Female Care Support Workers, to work in the Colchester area. The service provides support to clients with learning disabilities by helping them with all aspects of daily living, including assisting them with their personal care and health needs.
The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5 hours per week, working across Monday – Sunday on a rota basis covering early (7AM – 2:30PM) and late (2:30PM – 10PM) shifts. You will be required to cover one Sleep-in shift per week from 10PM – 7AM or 9AM. You will work one weekend in every three. This role is on a permanent basis. The salary is £24,863 per annum.
Please note; this role involves meeting with clients in the community and their homes.
In this position, you will be required to:
* Hold a caseload of 3 key clients
* Assist clients with the day-to-day management of their homes by liaising with landlords on the maintenance, upkeep, fixtures, and fittings of their homes
* Help clients to achieve their personal goals and aspirations by planning and providing personalised social, practical, and emotional support to customers (including personal care, household tasks and manual handling where required)
* Support clients to pursue hobbies and leisure activities at home and in their community
* Protect clients safety by following any of their plans for support consistently and correctly, including those relating to what’s important to the individual in terms of family, friends, activities, routines plus health, diet, medication, finances, and behaviour
* Support clients to develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with their family, friends, carers, and other professionals by promoting joint working, self-advocacy, and advocate where appropriate
* Promote a positive health and safety culture by ensuring that any activities are carried out in accordance with Health and Safety policies and procedures
* Monitor the safety clients by being observant to changes in their happiness and wellbeing, raising and reporting concerns, including abuse, or safeguarding issues
* Deliver a consistent, effective, and supportive service by maintaining accurate records and carrying out service checks
To apply for this role, you must have:
* Experience of providing support to vulnerable people in the community or within a supported living environment
* The ability to maintain records, with high levels of attention to detail that meet customers’ needs and aspirations
* The ability to challenge circumstances and environments that may exclude people from doing what they need to do either within their home or in the wider community
* Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines and achieve goals
* The understanding and ability to respond to people’s unique needs and desires in their lives
* The ability to work as part of a team and build and maintain effective and supportive relationships
* The skills to think and act creatively, always having the best interests of the people you support in mind
* The ability to work flexibly to meet customer needs and service requirements
* Desirable: NVQ Level in Health and Social Care or equivalent
* Essential: Full UK driving licence

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS registered on the DBS update service or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £60)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
