Based from home, the ideal candidate locations include Northampton, Nottingham, Leicester, Coventry, Kettering, Rugby, and surrounding areas.

Extensive national travel and nights away required.

The hiring company is a small, close-knit CNC machine tool specialist that launched less than three years ago. Founded and run by engineers, they have already placed over 100 machines across the UK, achieving in three years what was originally forecast to take seven. They have grown from three people to a team of seven, and are now selling into global markets.

That growth creates a unique opportunity: they are looking for their first dedicated in-house Field Service Engineer. As the business continues to scale, there is a genuine opportunity to build and lead a service team, potentially progressing into a Service Manager or Service Director role further down the line.

What You'll Be Doing

  * Installing, commissioning and handing over new CNC machine tools to customers – everything from compact 3-axis mills to full 5-axis machining centres and gantry machines up to 10 metres

  * Diagnosing and fixing breakdowns out in the field, including for high-profile blue-chip clients right through to independent subcontract machine shops

  * Carrying out routine and annual servicing as machines reach warranty milestones

  * Spending time at sales centres supporting PDI work from time to time

  * Covering a wide geographic patch, based ideally somewhere between Northampton and Nottingham, with travel across the UK, Ireland, and occasional international trips

  * Engaging in a hands-on capacity where you will need to wear many hats; no two weeks will look the same.

What We're Looking For

  * A mechanical bias with hands-on exposure to CNC machine tools; an HNC, apprenticeship, or similar background is ideal

  * Some exposure to electrical fault-finding; the more the better, but support and mentorship will be provided

  * Experience with Siemens controls is a big plus, but if you have worked with Fanuc, Haas or similar, the crossover is straightforward, and training will be provided

  * Above everything else: the right attitude. We are looking for someone with the drive to eventually step into a Service Manager role.

  * A full driving licence and willingness to travel extensively, with overnight stays as required.

What You'll Get

  * Basic salary up to £45k, with realistic total earnings of up to £55,000 including overtime

  * Discretionary annual bonus

  * A full week of hands-on training at the HQ to get you familiar with their machines, plus ongoing OEM training opportunities, including trips abroad
