Field Service Engineer – EV Charging
Location: Exeter, UK (Field-based)
Salary: £34,000 – £46,000 DOE + Benefits
We’re looking for an experienced Field Service Engineer to join our team clients Exeter based team.
They specialise in the commissioning, maintenance, and repair of AC chargers, Rapid DC, Ultra, and High-Power Charging (HPC) EV chargers across the UK.
This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives on solving technical problems, can work independently in the field, and is comfortable in varied environments – from outdoor sites to confined spaces. Some travel and occasional overnight stays will be required.
What You’ll Need
Essential:
*
Level 3 Electro-technical qualification
*
Proficiency with test and measurement equipment (multimeters, voltage testers, etc.)
*
Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues
*
Confident communicator with good customer-facing skills
*
Ability to manage your own schedule effectively while travelling between sites
*
Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
*
Electrical certifications: 18th Edition Wiring Regulations & G&G 2391/2394 Testing and Inspection
*
Prior field service experience, ideally in EV charging, renewable energy, or power electronics
*
Manufacturer-specific EV charging training or certification
*
Hands-on experience with commissioning, maintaining, and repairing Rapid DC, Ultra, and HPC chargers
*
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
*
Knowledge of analogue & digital electronics fundamentals
*
Solid awareness of electrical hazards and site-based H&S
Your Responsibilities
Commissioning
*
Install, configure, and test EV chargers to industry standards
*
Integrate charging units with client infrastructure in coordination with project teams
Maintenance & Troubleshooting
*
Carry out routine and preventative maintenance to maximise uptime
*
Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and software faults
*
Perform firmware updates, calibration, and component replacements in line with manufacturer guidelines
Customer Support
*
Deliver on-site technical support and user training
*
Respond promptly to service calls, maintaining clear communication throughout
*
Record all service activities and client interactions in the service system
Compliance & Safety
*
Work in line with all relevant safety regulations and internal policies
*
Ensure adherence to local electrical codes and standards
*
Maintain required safety certifications and training
