As part of continued growth, they are now seeking a Field Service Engineer to join their specialist service team. The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will play a key role in the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of sophisticated capital equipment at customer sites across the UK and overseas. You’ll be responsible for ensuring optimal equipment performance, delivering technical training to customers, and representing the company with professionalism and confidence in diverse and often sensitive environments.
This role combines mechanical and electrical expertise with customer-facing service excellence — ideal for someone who thrives on problem-solving, independence, and technical variety. The majority of your role will be mechanical and those skills are required, with any electrical skills a "nice to have" (you'll work alongside dedicated electrical engineers).
Field Service Engineers - Key Responsibilities
Install, commission, maintain, and service complex engineering systems at client sites worldwide.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
Conduct Factory and Site Acceptance Testing (FAT/SAT), including validation and customer handover.
Deliver operator training and provide ongoing remote and onsite support.
Complete detailed service documentation, reports, and compliance forms.
Uphold high standards of safety, professionalism, and discretion across all customer interactions.
Provide feedback to internal design and production teams to support continuous improvement.
Assist in mentoring junior engineers and supporting workshop testing when required.
Field Service Engineer - About You
To succeed in this role, you’ll be a confident and adaptable engineer with a strong technical foundation and a proactive, customer-focused mindset.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
Recognised qualification in mechanical, electrical, or multi-skilled engineering (HNC, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent).
Experience in field service for capital or industrial equipment.
Skilled in mechanical fitting and hydraulics/pneumatics.
Able to work independently on diverse sites across the UK and overseas.
Strong communication and documentation skills.
Willingness to travel globally when required.
