Field Service Engineer / Technician – UK We are currently recruiting for a Field Service Engineer / Technician to join an established and highly regarded marine technology business specialising in advanced systems for the commercial, defence and luxury yacht sectors.
This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers and travelling to vessels both in the UK and internationally.
The Role Working as part of a specialist service team, you will be responsible for travelling to vessels to install, commission, service and repair complex marine systems. When not travelling, you will provide technical support from the company's UK office.
The role will involve a combination of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control system troubleshooting, requiring a practical and analytical approach to fault finding.
Key Responsibilities
Provide professional on-site installation, commissioning, servicing and repair support
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and control system issues
Interpret technical drawings, schematics and service documentation
Provide technical support to customers and colleagues when office-based
Complete service reports, timesheets and associated documentation accurately
Maintain a high standard of customer service and professionalism
Work independently while managing deadlines and priorities
Travel to customer vessels across the UK and internationally as required
About You We are looking for someone with a strong practical engineering background and experience working with machinery or complex technical systems.
Ideally, you will have:
At least 2 years' experience assembling, servicing, commissioning or troubleshooting machinery or technical systems
Good working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems
The ability to read and understand technical drawings, schematics and technical manuals
Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
A hands-on, practical approach to engineering
The ability to work independently and manage your own workload
Good IT skills and the ability to complete service and parts documentation
Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
Full willingness and ability to undertake UK and international travel
Previous marine engineering experience is highly desirable
An engineering qualification in electrical engineering, electronics or a related discipline would be advantageous, but relevant hands-on experience will also be considered.
The Person You will be professional, reliable and organised, with the confidence to represent the business directly with customers and vessel crews.
You should be comfortable working under pressure, able to think logically when diagnosing faults and committed to delivering a high-quality service.
