Altera Recruitment Group is proud to be supporting a pioneering player in the UK’s energy transition in the search for a highly capable Field Service Engineer. This role is ideally suited to an experienced engineer with a background in gas engine systems and a passion for operational excellence in the field.
Key Responsibilities of the Field Service Engineer include:

Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on gas-powered reciprocating engines and associated mechanical systems.
*
Ensure safe, compliant, and efficient site operations across a portfolio of power generation assets.
*
Diagnose faults and lead timely corrective action to minimise plant downtime and support energy availability.
*
Liaise with third-party contractors on-site, ensuring strict adherence to health, safety, and operational procedures.
*
Accurately maintain site records, operational logs, and asset performance data through the company’s digital platforms.
Candidate Requirements:
*
Proven hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting gas reciprocating engines.
*
Knowledge of flexible power generation, CHP systems, or peaking plant environments.
*
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple site visits.
*
Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel frequently across regions.
*
Experience managing contractors or external engineering teams is highly desirable.

Attractive base salary of £46,500 per annum, plus quarterly bonus up to 15%.

Enhanced overtime pay at £25/hour, plus on-call allowance starting at £100 per call-out.
