Job Description

Job Title: Ground Source Heat Pump & CHP Engineer Location: Field-based (approx. 75% travel, majority within two hours of head office) Salary: £40,000 - £50,000 per year Job Type: Full-time, Permanent About the Role We’re looking for a skilled and experienced Ground Source Heat Pump Engineer with a strong background in Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems to join our customer’s dynamic and growing team. This is a field-based role with around 75% travel to client sites, predominantly within a two-hour radius of our office. The role offers variety and challenge, working across a range of renewable energy installations and servicing projects. As a key member of the engineering team, you’ll be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of Ground Source Heat Pump systems and CHP units, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to industry standards. Key Responsibilities * Installation & Commissioning: Install, commission and configure ground source heat pumps and CHP systems to specification. * Maintenance & Servicing: Carry out planned and reactive maintenance, service inspections and repairs on systems typically ranging from 500kW to 1MW (with occasional larger systems). * Fault Diagnosis: Quickly identify, diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults. * Technical Support: Deliver clear, professional technical advice and support to clients on system operation and care. * Documentation: Maintain accurate service records, reports and compliance documentation. * Travel: Regularly attend customer sites nationwide (approx. 75% of working time). * Health & Safety: Ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures and safe working practices at all times. What We’re Looking For Essential: * Recognised mechanical and electrical engineering qualifications * Proven experience installing, maintaining and servicing Ground Source Heat Pumps and CHP systems * Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems * Full, clean UK driving licence * Excellent verbal and written communication skills * Flexibility to travel extensively to various client sites Desirable: * Previous experience working with renewable energy technologies * Familiarity with the HVAC industry * Knowledge of building services and environmental technology systems Salary & Benefits * £40,000 - £50,000 per year, depending on experience * Company vehicle provided * On-site parking available when at head office * Day shift working, Monday to Friday Preferred Qualifications & Experience * Certificate of Higher Education or equivalent (preferred) * 1+ year experience in renewable energy systems (preferred) * 1+ year working with Combined Heat & Power units (preferred) * 2+ years working with Ground Source Heat Pumps (preferred) If you’re passionate about renewable energy and want to be part of a forward-thinking, growing business — we’d love to hear from you
