Field Support Engineer - On-Site IT Refresh Project

Location: Edinburgh - Onsite 

6 Months Inside IR35 

£150 to £200 a day 

*Active SC Clearance Required*

A top tier firm is looking for a reliable Field Support Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a crucial part in rolling out new workplace technology, upgrading user devices, and delivering high-quality, face-to-face technical assistance. You will split your time between floor-walking, tech bar user support, equipment deployment, and local data centre hands-and-eyes assistance.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Deployments: Build, configure, and roll out desktop and laptop hardware as part of a site-wide device migration program.
User & Technical Support: Provide fast, effective 1st and 2nd line troubleshooting for both operating systems and physical hardware.
Infrastructure Assistance: Deliver physical hands-and-eyes support within the local data centre environment as needed.
Equipment Maintenance: Manage local IT stock, prep devices for deployment, and ensure proper asset handling.
Customer Service: Maintain strong SLA performance while communicating clearly with end users to ensure a smooth transition. 

Essential Skills 

Prior experience working in IT helpdesk, desktop support, or technician role.
Practical experience supporting Windows 10/11 environments and Microsoft 365 administration.
Comfortable working with Active Directory, basic network connectivity (LAN/WAN/TCP-IP), and PC hardware diagnostics. 

Desirable Skills 

Holds certifications such as CompTIA A+, ITIL Foundation, or Microsoft Fundamentals.
Prior experience using ticketing tools like ServiceNow.
Familiarity with supporting mobile devices or MDM platforms.

Location: Edinburgh - Onsite | 6 Months Inside IR35 | £150 to £200 a day
