Job Description

Finance Business Partner Salary: £75,000 – £80,000 per annum Location: Hybrid – 3 days onsite (Defence client) Contract: 6–12 month contract with potential to go permanent Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner to join a leading Defence client. Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, you will provide proactive financial leadership on a range of defence-related projects and programmes, including deployable infrastructure and vehicle missions. This role combines strategic business partnering with hands-on financial management to ensure clarity, control, and commercial insight across key programmes. Key Responsibilities Partner with senior stakeholders (Director level) to influence decision-making and ensure delivery of strategic objectives. Lead forecasting, budgeting, and business planning processes, delivering real-time, meaningful management information. Manage the financial performance of key programmes and projects. Mentor and coach team members, promoting best practice in finance business partnering. Challenge and influence stakeholders to ensure accurate forecasts and drive measurable performance improvements. Lead monthly reporting processes, conducting independent review meetings with budget holders to address variances and agree corrective actions. Analyse financial data and present insights in a clear, engaging manner for both financial and non-financial audiences. Report on long-term project results, including risk analysis, and work with Programme Directors and project managers to keep projects on track. About You Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, ACA). Proven experience in budgeting and forecasting. Strong analytical skills with the ability to solve complex problems independently. Skilled at managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines. Confident in making difficult decisions and influencing senior stakeholders, including those without a financial background. Resilient, energetic, and able to drive change in challenging environments. Experience with long-term project accounting (advantageous but not essential)
