Job Description
NXTGEN are pleased to be working with a leading business in their field who are seeking an experienced Finance Controller to take full ownership of their in-house finance function. This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on finance professional looking to combine technical expertise with strategic influence, working closely with the MD and fellow directors to drive the business forward.
As Finance Controller, you will oversee the day-to-day finance operations across multiple entities, including preparing and analysing management accounts, monitoring cash flow, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with statutory reporting requirements. You will lead a small finance team, supporting and developing them while maintaining control over all financial processes. In addition, you will manage external audit relationships, review financial controls, and provide actionable insights to support both operational and strategic decisions. You will also engage with key stakeholders across the business, helping to shape financial strategy, drive performance improvement, and support growth initiatives.
Key responsibilities:
Prepare and review monthly management accounts for multiple entities
Oversee annual audits and liaise with external auditors
Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow across the business
Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team
Monitor financial performance, analyse variances, and provide actionable insights
Ensure compliance with statutory reporting and internal financial policies
Maintain and improve internal controls, processes, and financial systems
Support strategic decision-making with financial modelling and scenario analysis
Collaborate with directors and key stakeholders to drive business growth initiatives
The ideal Finance Controller will be ACCA/ACA/CIMA Qualified and a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional, with proven experience managing finance teams and multi-entity reporting. You will be comfortable leading the full finance function while contributing strategically at board level, providing insight that shapes the direction of the business. Exceptional stakeholder management skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable recommendations are essential. You will thrive in a dynamic environment, balancing detailed financial oversight with forward-looking business strategy.
