Finance Income Officer – Hybrid Role in York (Fixed-Term, 10 Months)

About the Role
This is a fixed-term, 10-month position based in York, with a mix of on-site work, regular travel to Scarborough (approx. every two weeks), and occasional visits to the Teesside where your mileage will be paid. This is a hybrid role, offering occasional home working (1/2days per week) depending on workload, meetings and team priorities which gives you the chance to engage directly with teams across multiple sites.
As a Finance Income Officer, you’ll play a key role in managing income collection, debt recovery, and financial transactions. You’ll work closely with housing and care teams, helping to ensure tenancy agreements are set up smoothly, payments are processed efficiently, and financial compliance is met.
What You’ll Be Doing:
* Overseeing income collection and debt management to support housing and care services.
* Processing financial transactions, including banking, invoicing, reconciliations, and journals.
* Setting up tenancy agreements, managing arrears, and ensuring a smooth move-in process.
* Conducting financial audits to ensure compliance and accurate cash management.
* Handling month-end processes, including payment allocations and reviewing balances.
* Engaging with a variety of stakeholders, including councils, NHS professionals, residents, and families.
What We’re Looking For:
* Accounting or bookkeeping qualification or relevant experience in financial processing – a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a finance role that involves transactional processing
* Strong numeracy and accuracy when working with financial data.
* Excellent organisational skills, able to manage workload and priorities effectively.
* Knowledge of finance IT systems - particularly double-sided bookkeeping. (training will be given)
* Problem-solving ability and a flexible approach to managing financial tasks.
* Hard working, flexible and a good sense of humour is the most important. Supportive of colleagues, team spirited and with a positive can-do attitude.
