Job Description
Finance Manager
We are currently seeking a proactive and detail oriented Finance Manager to support our Finance Director within a fast paced finance team. This is a hands on role involving both management and financial accounting responsibilities. The successful candidate will play a key part in delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, including monthly management accounts and weekly KPIs, while also supporting a range of wider finance team activities.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Finance Director with year end audit processes, annual budgeting, and ad hoc financial analysis.
Prepare month end management accounts, including accruals and prepayments, and investigate variances against budget.
Reconcile control accounts and assist with other audit preparation tasks.
Review and submit monthly VAT returns.
Generate and distribute weekly and monthly KPI reports.
Provide financial support and guidance to non-finance managers and budget holders.
Oversee the day-to-day activities of purchase ledger, sales ledger, and payroll (managing a team of three).
Provide holiday cover across various finance department roles as required.
Identify and implement improvements to financial systems, processes, and procedures.
Candidate Profile
Strong, relevant experience in a finance role, ideally gained in practice or within an SME environment.
ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification (or part-qualified) is advantageous but not essential.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (including pivot tables and data analysis).
Experience managing or supervising a small finance team.
Curious and analytical mindset with a drive to improve processes.
Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
High level of honesty, integrity, and attention to detail.
