Financial Accountant
Salary: £38,000 – £40,000
9-month contract | Full-time or Part-time available
Looking to make an impact in a fast-paced finance team? We’re hiring a Financial Accountant (General Ledger) for a 9-month contract. This is a great opportunity to take ownership of financial control processes in a respected research-focused organisation.
What you’ll do:
Manage and control the general ledger
Ensure accurate and timely month-end close (within 5 working days)
Oversee accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, and journal entries
Support balance sheet reconciliations
Assist with statutory accounts, audits, and external reporting
What we’re looking for:
Part-qualified accountant (completed Stage 1 or 2 of a recognised qualification) or qualified by experience
Strong experience in financial control or general ledger accounting
Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail
Able to work accurately under pressure and meet deadlines
Experience in research organisations or universities is a bonus
