Corby, Northamptonshire
£65,000–£85,000 per annum, depending on experience
Permanent, full-time position
Position is available immediately

A well-established and growing manufacturing services company is looking to appoint a commercially minded Financial Controller to join its senior leadership team.

This position offers considerably more scope than a conventional financial reporting role. You will take control of the finance function while working closely with the Directors and wider operational teams to improve performance, strengthen systems and support the company’s continued development.

For an ambitious qualified or finalist accountant, there is a realistic opportunity to progress towards a Finance Director position within approximately 18 months to two years.

Your Remit

You will provide accurate financial information, robust controls and commercially focused insight to support decision-making across the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  * Producing monthly management accounts and board-level financial reporting

  * Preparing annual budgets, rolling forecasts and cash flow projections

  * Maintaining effective financial controls and balance sheet accuracy

  * Supporting statutory accounts, audit activity and regulatory compliance

  * Developing meaningful KPIs and performance-management information

  * Providing financial analysis to support commercial and operational decisions

  * Improving the quality, accuracy and accessibility of business data

  * Leading the continued development of ERP and finance systems

  * Identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement

  * Working with operational and commercial teams to improve business performance

  * Assessing investment proposals and supporting growth initiatives

  * Managing relationships with external accountants, auditors, software providers and other professional partners

The Person

We are looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting capability with genuine commercial curiosity.

You should be comfortable looking beyond the figures, challenging established processes and identifying practical improvements across the wider business.

The successful candidate will have:

  * ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification, or be approaching final qualification

  * Experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior management accountant

  * A background within manufacturing, engineering, industrial services or a similar environment

  * Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting and cash flow experience

  * Experience using or developing ERP and integrated finance systems

  * Excellent commercial awareness and analytical ability

  * The confidence to influence Directors, managers and non-finance stakeholders

  * A proactive, questioning and solutions-led approach
