Financial Controller – Permanent
Salary: £65,000 plus benefits
Location: Newbury. Office-based, 5 days per week
Software: Sage, Excel
Reporting to: CEO
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a thriving SME, to oversee the UK finance operation and support, manage and liaise with the international finance teams. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach to financial management.
Key Responsibilities
Communicate the company’s mission, vision and overall direction
Implement strategic plans to achieve organisational objectives
Provide strong leadership to Finance Team
Build and maintain an effective team
Foster a positive organisational culture and ensure alignment with company values
Reporting Monthly AvB (P&L), Quarterly Management Accounts, Annual preparation for Tax Returns
VAT Returns
Working with external CPA’s for on time year-end filing.
Cash Flow forecasting
Supplier payments
Manage all accounting operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
Ensure compliance with financial regulations across multiple jurisdictions
Utilise Sage software for financial processes, reporting, and analysis
Work closely with senior management, external auditors, and financial institutions
Identify opportunities to enhance financial efficiency and implement best practices
Key Skills & Experience
Experience of managing multi-currency group business over £10m
Either ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA qualified preferred but not essential
Knowledge of Sage 200 and or Xero
Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Teams, Outlook
People management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate cross culturally at all levels
Able to maintain confidentiality and be assertive and professional
Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar
Ability to work in an office-based environment with a proactive and strategic mindset
