Job Description
As our new Financial Controller, you’ll lead the finance function with a focus on delivering accurate financial reporting, ensuring strong financial controls, and partnering with senior stakeholders to drive commercial performance. You’ll oversee management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, helping steer Fitness First toward strategic growth.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee preparation of monthly management accounts with robust analysis and insights.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting process across all departments.
Ensure compliance with financial controls, accounting standards, and audit requirements.
Partner with operational and commercial leaders to provide strategic financial guidance.
Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and accountability.
Own the balance sheet and ensure timely reconciliations and reporting accuracy.
Present financial results and insights to senior leadership and the board.
Drive continuous improvements in financial systems, processes, and reporting tools.
Support strategic initiatives, investment planning, and business case development.
What We’re Looking For
* Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA) with post-qualification experience.
* Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance leadership role.
* Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial reporting standards.
* Commercially astute, with the ability to interpret financials into business strategy.
* Experience managing and developing finance teams.
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Ideally, experience with Power BI or similar reporting/visualisation tools.
