Financial Controller
£55,000 – £60,000 + Benefits | 9-Day Fortnight | Oxfordshire | Hybrid Working
An established and growing medical device business is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join their finance function during an exciting period of expansion into new markets.
This is a newly created role that will work closely with the CFO and oversee the day-to-day financial operations, supporting strategic decisions through accurate reporting and analysis. The successful candidate will play a key role in strengthening internal controls and financial processes across the business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified accountant looking for long-term progression within a dynamic, high-quality SME environment. The company also offers a genuine commitment to work-life balance, including a 9-day fortnight meaning every other Friday is a full day off, and the alternate Friday is a half day (1pm finish).
Key Responsibilities:

Support the CFO with financial planning, reporting, and process improvement
*
Oversee all financial control activities, including month-end and quarter-end reporting
*
Deliver timely and accurate financial information to senior management
*
Prepare management accounts and assist with budgeting and forecasting
*
Manage VAT returns, payroll, cashflow and bank reconciliations
*
Supervise the finance assistant and ensure compliance with accounting standards
Requirements:
*
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
*
Proven experience in a similar Financial Controller or senior finance role
*
Strong knowledge of financial regulations, reporting standards, and internal controls
*
Advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting software
*
Excellent attention to detail and ability to work proactively in a growing SME environment
Package:
*
Salary: £55,000 – £60,000 per annum
*
9-day fortnight working pattern: every other Friday fully off; alternate Fridays finish at 1pm
*
25 days annual leave + bank holidays
*
4% employer pension contribution
*
Hybrid working (1–2 days per week from home)
Location:
Office-based in Faringdon, Oxfordshire – commutable from Oxford, Swindon, Newbury and surrounding areas.
Hybrid working is offered (1–2 days per week from home), with a 9-day fortnight pattern in place: every other Friday off, with the Friday worked finishing at 1pm.
