Due to winning a new contract with Somerset Council to provide 24-hour call-out across their portfolio, they are now specifically seeking a Fire and Security Engineer to
cover the Somerset area.
The Engineer will manage a schedule of planned maintenance across a given
month which will be managed for them by the office team, and reactive call-
out services.
Key requirements:
Engineers will need to be nationally vetted and as a minimum
requirement have an advanced DBS check. This will be undertaken when
the candidate is onboarded.
The successful candidate must possess a valid, UK driving licence.
They must have fire experience (access control and CCTV experience is
desirable).

Team set-up: there is currently an Engineer covering the Somerset area,
therefore, the successful candidate will be mentored by them for a period of
time.
Training: full training is provided involving attending the Cardiff office for an
induction, mentoring by a fellow-engineer, systems training. Training/team
meetings beyond the initial induction will preferably be undertaking remotely
to make the best-use of the individual’s time.
Benefits: branded, fitted-out company van which the candidate is welcome to
use for personal usage too, 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a
minimum of 4 days paid annual leave over Christmas (the business shuts down

membership (Cardiff-based). Employees are expected to provide one weeks’
notice for 1 day off, and one months’ notice for a week or more. The company
offer a very supportive and flexible working environment.
Salary: £32k to £37k (depending on level of experience/possibly negotiable for
the right candidate). On-call will be around 1 week in 5 i.e. full 7-day week
(however, the business are currently looking to restructure the on-call so they
have more than 1 engineer on-call at a time). The on-call rate is £90 per week
and time and a half for travel and the hours worked whilst on-call. There are
opportunities to undertake overtime.
Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (between 730am and
430pm). Engineers are not paid for the first 30mins of their travel time in the
mornings. They are expected to be onsite at 8am (but this is flexible if not
working within an hour of their home address). There’s no Saturday, Sunday or
Bank Holiday working, unless they are on-call. When on-call an engineer will be
paid 1.5 rate for any travel time and hours worked in addition to the £90 per
week on- call rate. Additionally if an engineer works on a Bank Holiday they will
receive this time back in Lieu
