Fire Damper Lead Engineer – Excellent Career Opportunity!
We are proud to be representing a well-established compliance and building services provider that is looking for a skilled Fire Damper Lead Engineer to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of a specialist area within a forward-thinking business, working with a passionate and experienced team that delivers first-class compliance solutions to clients across the UK.
Our client works with a diverse customer base spanning the public sector, utilities, industrial, commercial, and retail environments. With strong growth plans and investment in both people and services, they are now seeking an ambitious Lead Engineer who can not only carry out high-quality fire damper testing and remedials, but also mentor and lead others while helping to expand this critical area of the business.
This role is ideal for someone with a hands-on engineering background, excellent organisational skills, and the confidence to act as the key point of contact on-site. You’ll be trusted to run jobs, support a dedicated team, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards.
What the Role Involves
As Fire Damper Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering and supervising a wide variety of works across client sites. Fire damper testing will be at the core of your role, alongside associated remedial works, general ventilation cleaning, and ductwork fitting or amendments such as installing fire stopping.
You’ll oversee a team of compliance engineers and operatives, ensuring the smooth running of jobs by setting daily priorities, planning manpower, and making sure the team has the right tools and equipment to do the job properly. Your role will include liaising with clients and site representatives, agreeing on work schedules and priorities, and keeping communication clear and professional throughout each project.
This is very much a hands-on leadership position. You’ll be supervising, but also getting involved directly in testing, remedial works, and installations, making sure all tasks are completed to specification. Health and Safety is paramount – you’ll be expected to lead by example, complete and follow risk assessments, and ensure that every job is carried out safely and responsibly.
Beyond site work, you’ll also play a part in mentoring and developing new team members, providing “on the job” training where needed, and supporting the company’s vision to continuously improve skills and standards.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone with proven experience in fire damper testing and ventilation works, ideally with leadership or supervisory experience. You should be confident managing people on-site, planning workloads, and problem-solving when challenges arise.
Strong communication skills are a must – both in dealing with your team and in representing the business to clients. You should have the confidence to discuss issues, explain progress, and set clear priorities on-site. Attention to detail and pride in your work are essential, ensuring every job is completed to a high standard and that sites are always left safe, secure, and tidy.
The right person will also embody the values of honesty, ownership, and respect – showing professionalism at all times, motivating colleagues, and building strong working relationships with both staff and clients.
Training & Support
Our client is committed to investing in their people. As Fire Damper Lead Engineer, you’ll receive a mix of internal and external training, including health and safety courses and any specialist development required. You’ll also have the opportunity to upskill operatives, sharing your expertise and raising the standard across the team.
Why This is an Exciting Opportunity
This is not just another engineering role – it’s a chance to step into a position of responsibility within a respected and growing compliance business. You’ll be leading from the front, managing projects that keep people safe, and making a real impact in a critical area of building services compliance.
The variety of work across different sectors will keep the role interesting and challenging, and you’ll have the backing of a business that values its employees and is actively growing. For the right person, this position offers real career progression, technical development, and the satisfaction of building something meaningful alongside a dedicated team.
What’s on Offer

* A supportive and professional team environment.
* Ongoing training and development opportunities.
