Fire Door Surveyor – North East (Joinery Background Essential)
Location: North East (regional travel required)
Start Date: ASAP
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Door Surveyor on behalf of our client, a reputable fire protection and joinery contractor delivering inspection, maintenance, and installation services across the North East.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with a joinery background who is looking to develop or continue their career within the growing fire safety and compliance sector.
The Role
As a Fire Door Surveyor, you will be responsible for carrying out detailed inspections and assessments of fire doors in a range of environments — including residential, commercial, healthcare, and education facilities. You’ll ensure compliance with current regulations and report accurately on condition, compliance, and required remedial works.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough fire door surveys in accordance with industry standards (e.g. BM Trada / FIRAS guidelines)
* Assess the condition, compliance, and integrity of existing fire doors and frames
* Identify and record non-compliances and remedial requirements
* Produce clear, accurate survey reports using digital tools/software
* Liaise with clients and internal teams to provide technical advice and recommendations
* Maintain high professional standards of workmanship, safety, and customer service
About You
* Strong joinery background with hands-on experience in fire door installation, maintenance, or inspection
* Experience conducting fire door surveys (preferred, but training may be provided for the right joinery professional)
* Excellent attention to detail and understanding of fire safety regulations
* Strong communication and reporting skills
* Valid UK driving licence – willingness to travel across the North East
