Job Description
Are you an experienced professional in fire door testing and certification looking for your next challenge? A respected and growing specialist manufacturer is seeking a Fire Door Testing & Certification Lead to take ownership of their fire compliance programme.
This is a senior, hands-on role with real autonomy and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on product safety and regulatory integrity. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical knowledge, practical experience, and a methodical, detail-focused approach.
Key Responsibilities
*
Design and develop fire doors using CAD, ensuring alignment with fire testing principles and construction methods
*
Oversee fire door production in line with test evidence and third-party certification requirements
*
Prepare and fit doors for off-site fire testing at accredited labs
*
Lead the maintenance of third-party certification schemes (e.g. IFC, BM TRADA, Warringtonfire)
*
Participate in factory production control audits
*
Monitor and interpret UK fire safety standards (e.g. BS 476, EN 1634) to maintain compliance
*
Manage technical documentation, test reports, and compliance records
*
Provide technical advice to customers regarding certification, limitations, and installation queries
*
Travel to attend off-site fire tests, including occasional overnight stays (expenses covered)
What You’ll Need
*
Proven experience in fire door testing, passive fire protection, or a compliance-focused technical role
*
In-depth knowledge of fire safety standards and third-party certification schemes
*
Strong CAD skills and the ability to produce and review technical drawings
*
Hands-on capability for preparing and installing doors for test environments
*
Confident interpreting fire test data, certification reports, and regulatory requirements
*
Excellent communication skills, especially in client-facing scenarios
*
Full UK driving licence
