Job Summary
Day-to-day, you will be involved in the development of fire engineering solutions to a variety of our clients projects within the rail industry, from concept to construction. The role offers a great opportunity to join successful, established teams and work alongside some of the best engineers on a wide variety of major projects across the UK’s rail industry.
We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Fire Engineer with expertise in Fire Mains and Hydrant systems to join our team. This involves providing engineering solutions revolved around fire mains using appropriate strategies to optimise designs whilst ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Our ideal candidate will be adaptable, pragmatic and passionate about delivering solutions that will enable our clients to deliver better infrastructure within the rail industry.
Role Accountabilities:
* Interpretation and implementation of client specification requirements in the development of designs and engineering solutions.
* Undertake fire services design/engineering on UK rail or related projects with a good understanding of regulatory requirements and relevant standards.
* Undertake technical tasks in accordance with the company’s quality, safety and project management/engineering procedures and controls.
* Preparation of calculations, technical reports, specifications and drawings.
* Inputs to the formulation of technical proposals and their presentation to potential clients.
* Understanding of London Fire Brigade requirements & strategies.
* Accountable for the effective delivery of the assigned tasks and deliverables of Projects to time, to the required quality and budget.
* Maintain good relationships with client’s key representatives and contribute to the marketing / networking of the company to potential customers.
* Contribute to the overall team development and growth through strategic inputs, skill development and mentoring intermediate and graduate engineers.
* Manage and plan your work and deliverables while working on multiple projects to meet the expected delivery milestones.
Essential Criteria:
* Right to work in the UK.
* At least 4+ years, post-graduate experience in Fire Engineering.
* Experience in the Rail Industry and a sound understanding of the Rail Environment, rules and regulations.
* Experience and good knowledge of TfL Pathway or Network Rail GRIP, PACE and engineering standards and specifications.
* Experience and good knowledge of using fire engineering standards and specifications (Rail or Building related). BS9999 and BS9992 understanding.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proven ability to work under pressure within time constraints.
* Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base.
* Proven capability to build relationships, be proactive and be part of a variety of teams, including multidisciplinary teams.
* Computer literate and good experience of computer software programs such as, MS Office (Word, Excel, Project)
* A challenging attitude towards solving engineering problems to achieve cost effective designs and develop innovative solutions.
* Knowledge of the complete project life cycle.
