Job Description

Job Title: Fire Safety Manager Location: South East London Rate: £367 per day (Umbrella) Contract: 3–6 month initial contract, with potential to extend About the Role We are seeking an experienced Fire Safety Manager to join a Local Authority in South East London on an interim basis. This is a vital role leading on the delivery of fire safety compliance and ensuring the highest standards of safety across a large housing portfolio. Key Responsibilities Act as the responsible and competent person for managing fire risk across housing stock, ensuring compliance with all statutory and non-statutory fire safety responsibilities. Oversee fire risk assessments, inspections and audits across residential, commercial and workplace premises. Develop, implement, and review fire safety emergency plans and procedures. Provide expert advice and guidance on fire safety management at both strategic and operational levels. Manage fire risk assessment programmes, contractors, consultants, and internal staff, ensuring robust systems and high standards of delivery. Liaise with external agencies such as the London Fire Brigade, Building Control, and other stakeholders. Prepare fire safety reports, building safety cases, and contribute to emergency planning exercises. Ensure residents’ safety remains at the heart of all activity, engaging with communities and putting customers first.Requirements Degree educated with chartered or fellowship membership in fire safety, health & safety, or risk management. In-depth knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Demonstrable experience of fire safety management across social housing or public sector environments. Strong leadership in emergency situations with the ability to manage responses effectively. Experience working with Fire and Rescue Services and relevant external agencies.
