Fire Safety Surveyor – Housing Compliance
£350 per day Umbrella / £268 PAYE
37 hours per week
6-month initial contract
We are seeking an experienced Fire Safety Surveyor on behalf of a local authority in London to provide professional expertise, support, and advice in ensuring housing stock is fully compliant with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other relevant Health & Safety legislation.
Responsibilities:
Undertake and produce Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) for housing stock and communal spaces, identifying risks and instructing remedial actions.
Develop and deliver FRA inspection programmes in line with statutory requirements.
Carry out desktop reviews and quality assurance of FRAs undertaken by specialist contractors.
Monitor and inspect repairs and maintenance contractors’ work, ensuring high-quality standards and compliance.
Provide technical advice, reports, and guidance to colleagues, contractors, and residents on fire safety matters.
Support enforcement actions, liaising with the Fire Brigade, responding to enforcement notices, and managing remedial works.
Assist in developing policies, strategies, and planned fire safety programmes aligned with the organisation’s Asset Management Strategy.
Deliver advice and training to colleagues, contractors, and residents, including presentations and resident engagement sessions.Requirements:
Demonstrable experience of undertaking Fire Risk Assessments, preferably within social housing.
In-depth knowledge of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and Building Safety Act 2022.
NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate (or equivalent).
Professional membership of IFE, CABE, CIOB, or RICS (or working towards).
Strong communication and report writing skills with the ability to provide expert advice across all levels.
Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
