Flood Risk and Drainage Engineer
Key Responsibilities
Management:
·Lead a team of Highway Asset and Flood Authority professionals.
·Prepare grant applications and bid documentation for funding.
·Present business cases and project summary reports.
·Manage and allocate budgets within your area.
·Provide technical reports to support budget allocation and program planning.
·Enhance the Business Unit's efficiency and effectiveness.
·Lead recruitment, training, and staff management.
·Foster a high-quality, cohesive service culture.
·Represent the team and authority at various levels and liaise with professionals and stakeholders.
·Deputize for the Service Manager as required.
Asset and Flood Risk Management:
·Review, develop, and implement long-term policy and strategy for highway asset management.
·Promote asset management maintenance procedures.
·Develop and manage the Highway Infrastructure Asset Management System (IAMS).
·Procure and interpret highway asset condition assessments.
·Develop and manage the scheme identification and prioritization systems.
·Manage highway asset conditions and create medium-term maintenance programs.
·Liaise with stakeholders on work programs and routine maintenance.
·Implement an Asset Valuation approach and comply with national financial requirements.
·Provide guidance on new legislative proposals and statutory requirements.
·Manage flood risk and implement Sustainable Urban Drainage Solutions (SuDS).
Design and Construction:
·Act as project sponsor and budget manager for capital budgets.
·Lead the procurement and management of minor maintenance and improvement schemes.
·Provide expert engineering design advice and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
Planning and Development:
·Supervise technical support for planning applications and developments.
·Provide guidance on technical submissions related to highway infrastructure assets.
