The Opportunity
Our client is seeking talented Flood Risk Modellers, Surface Water Modellers and Coastal Modellers to join their established teams across Central & Southern England and Wales. Positions are available at all levels, from junior through to principal grade, offering the chance to develop your career within a respected and forward-thinking consultancy.

The Role
With a background in hydraulic or flood risk modelling, you will be involved in a wide variety of projects, such as:
Flood mapping at site, catchment and regional scale
Integrated flood risk modelling and analysis
Nature-based solutions and climate adaptation strategies
Supporting engineering and design teams with technical expertiseYou will collaborate with planners, engineers and environmental specialists to deliver high-quality outputs for a broad range of public and private sector clients.
Key responsibilities include:
Producing robust modelling outputs and ensuring technical excellence
Applying innovative tools, methods and approaches
Working closely with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary teams
Supporting junior team members and contributing to business growth
Exploring data science and AI applications to enhance modelling processes
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience in hydraulic, flood risk, surface water or coastal modelling
Be proficient with one or more industry-standard packages (Flood Modeller, HEC-RAS, Infoworks ICM, MIKE+, TUFLOW)
Have strong capability in 1D, 2D and linked 1D/2D modelling in rural and urban contexts
Understand UK flood risk policy and management practices
Be skilled in GIS (ArcGIS/QGIS) and terrain data analysis
Demonstrate excellent communication and collaboration skillsDesirable experience includes:
Knowledge of hydrological methods (e.g. FEH)
Familiarity with advanced modelling techniques such as CFD
Project management or client-facing experience
Strong technical writing skills
Coding ability in Python, R or similar
Qualifications
A degree in environmental science, geography, mathematics, engineering or a related field
Chartered status (or working towards it) is highly regarded and actively supported
