Food Technology Teacher – Southampton (Totton Area)
Start Date: October 2025
Contract: Maternity Cover until July 2026
Pay: £165 - £245 per day (dependent on experience)
Hours: 8:00am – 4:00pm | Full-Time
Location: Near Totton, Southampton
Position Overview:
Supply Desk is working in partnership with a secondary school located close to Totton, Southampton, to recruit a committed Food Technology Teacher. This maternity cover role begins in October 2025 and will run until July 2026, teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4.
The successful candidate will be joining a supportive Design & Technology department, dedicated to engaging students in practical and creative learning. This opportunity is suitable for both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators with a passion for Food Technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver creative and practical Food Technology lessons across KS3 and KS4.
Encourage students to develop essential cooking skills, healthy eating knowledge, and a passion for food.
Track and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to support achievement.
Contribute to departmental development and curriculum planning.
Maintain high expectations for learning, behaviour, and achievement.

What We’re Looking For:
A degree in Food Technology, Design & Technology, or a related subject (essential).
QTS or equivalent recognised teaching qualification (preferred).
Experience teaching Food Technology at KS3 and KS4.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
A genuine enthusiasm for Food Technology and inspiring young learners.
