Forklift Engineer 

£35,000 - £42,000

Monday - Friday Days

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Forklift Engineer to join a well-established and growing manufacturing company in the Somerset area!

Working within a modern manufacturing facility, the Forklift Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety and performance of the site's material handling fleet. This position offers excellent job security, ongoing training and genuine opportunities for career progression.

Role & Responsibilities:

Carry out planned preventative maintenance on forklift trucks and material handling equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic faults.
Respond to equipment breakdowns and minimise operational downtime.
Complete inspections and ensure all equipment complies with safety regulations.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and service documentation.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
Liaise with production, warehouse and engineering teams to prioritise repairs and maintenance activities.
Assist with the installation, commissioning and upgrade of equipment when required.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Previous experience working as a Forklift Engineer, Plant Engineer or Service Engineer.
Strong mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fault-finding skills.
Experience maintaining forklift trucks, reach trucks, counterbalance trucks or similar material handling equipment.
Relevant engineering qualification desirable (Mechanical, Electrical or Maintenance Engineering).
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
Strong understanding of health and safety practices within a manufacturing environment.
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
