Job Description
Our client is a respected SME property developer based in Kidlington, delivering high-quality residential and mixed-use projects across Oxfordshire and the surrounding areas. Known for their hands-on approach and strong local reputation, they’re now looking to appoint an experienced Freelance Construction Buyer to support their growing project pipeline.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Construction Director, the successful candidate will be responsible for procuring materials, plant, and subcontractor packages across several live and upcoming developments. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Buyer who enjoys working in a fast-paced SME environment, where flexibility, initiative, and strong supplier relationships are key.
Key Responsibilities
* Source and procure building materials, plant, and subcontractor services.
* Negotiate competitive rates and manage supplier agreements.
* Build and maintain effective supplier and subcontractor relationships.
* Work closely with site managers, estimators, and project leads to support procurement planning.
* Manage purchasing schedules and ensure timely delivery to site.
* Monitor and report on cost control and budget performance.
* Maintain accurate procurement records and support internal reporting systems.
Candidate Requirements
* Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Construction Buyer within a developer or main contractor environment.
* Strong knowledge of construction materials and supply chains.
* Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
* Experience using Eque2 software would be highly advantageous.
* Based within a commutable distance of Kidlington, OxfordshireBefore You Apply
