Full Stack Developer (React / Node.js / PostgreSQL / Firebase) Contract (3-Month Trial with Potential Extension or Permanent Role) Location: Remote (95%+ home-based) Hours: Monday to Friday, flexible (task based) Team Size: 3–5 people Day rate - Competitive About the Role We’re seeking a skilled and motivated Full Stack Developer to join our growing team supporting the development of an intelligent digital platform in collaboration with Network Rail. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a cutting-edge system as we scale, enhance functionality, and integrate new modules for deployment. You’ll be joining a small, agile team of talented developers who are passionate about creating innovative, high-performance solutions. The role is primarily remote, offering flexibility and autonomy while working on meaningful, large-scale infrastructure technology. Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, and maintain full stack web applications from concept through to deployment * Build responsive and performant user interfaces using React * Develop robust server-side applications and APIs using Node.js * Design and optimise PostgreSQL database schemas and queries * Implement and maintain Firebase services, including authentication, real-time database, and cloud functions * Manage and deploy applications across cloud infrastructure platforms * Write comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests Essential Skills & Experience * Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript * Extensive experience with React, including modern hooks and state management * Solid Node.js expertise, with experience building RESTful APIs * Strong understanding of PostgreSQL database design and query optimisation * Hands-on experience with Firebase services and ecosystem * Proven experience managing cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS, GCP, or Azure) * Experience with testing frameworks (e.g. Vitest, React Testing Library, or similar) * Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerisation and orchestration * Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation * Proficient with Git version control * Experience with monitoring and logging tools * Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and communication abilities * A collaborative mindset and willingness to work in a small, focused team What We Offer * 3-month initial contract with the potential for extension or a permanent position * 95% remote working flexibility * Opportunity to work on a high-impact national project with Network Rail * Collaborative and supportive small-team environment * Competitive daily or hourly rate (based on experience) If you’re a proactive Full Stack Developer looking to apply your technical expertise to a project that combines innovation, scale, and purpose — we’d love to hear from you
