Job Description

Functional Skills Tutor - English & Maths

Gateshead

Part time / Full Time options available. 

Prospero Teaching is proud to work alongside Local Authorities, schools, and SEND services across Gateshead to provide tailored tuition and educational support to young people who require additional help outside of mainstream education.

In this role, you will support learners who may have SEND, SEMH needs, anxiety, medical needs, or other barriers that have affected their access to education. Through one-to-one or small-group sessions, you will provide engaging, individualised tuition designed around each learner's needs, abilities, and goals.

Your support will help students develop essential English and Maths skills, build confidence, re-engage with learning, and make meaningful progress towards their educational and personal goals.

Position Details:

Pay: Up to £30 per hour (depending on experience/qualifications)
Hours: Up to 15 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Gateshead

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver 1:1 tutoring in Functional Skills Maths and/or English
Create personalised lesson plans to address learning gaps
Monitor progress and provide constructive feedback to students and families
Foster a supportive and motivating learning environment
Complete daily attendance and weekly reports 

Requirements:

Previous experience in Functional Skills (Maths and English)
Right to work in the UK
Enhanced DBS (child workforce) on the update service, or willing to apply
Two years of references (education or employment)
