Job Description

TeacherActive are looking for a Functional Skills (Maths & English) Tutor to work in a specialist alternative provision in Nottinghamshire. The Alternative Provision (AP) is looking for someone who has previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities/ SEND & Social Emotional Mental Health Needs/ SEMH. The setting supports young people in KS3 & 4 who have been permanently excluded or are on the verge of permanent exclusion from mainstream schools. The aim is to either re integrate these young people back into mainstream schools/post 16 education/ apprenticeships or training through personalised education plans. The successful Functional Skills Tutor will: Have an ability to teach functional skills in English & Maths. Be highly organised with excellent communication skills Be patient and understanding. Have an understanding of behavioural management Strive to make a positive impact. Have a desire to work with, inspire and support children Have a passion for working within an Alternative Provision (AP). Basic role description: Teaching Basic Skills in an SEND/SEMH provision to pupils of varying abilities Supporting children during lessons/school activities Supporting staff/children during lunch and break times Managing pupils personalised learning based on their individual need.
