Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are working with a well‑established heavy engineering manufacturer, who are currently seeking a Forge / Furnace Operative to support ongoing production demands. The role focuses on the safe operation of heat treatment and heat‑to‑forge furnaces, with additional support across related forge and conditioning activities.
Role Overview
Control and monitor furnace operations in line with defined process instructions
Ensure materials meet technical and quality requirements throughout processing
Accurately log production and process data on internal systems
Carry out material handling using overhead cab cranes, FLT, and sideloaders
Support material receipt, internal movement, and dispatch
Complete pre‑use checks and maintain good housekeeping and 5S standards
Promote safe working practices and raise STOP cards when required
Assist heat treatment and Conditioning operations as workload dictatesIdeal Candidate
Background in forging, furnaces, heat treatment, or heavy manufacturing
Strong understanding of safety and procedural compliance
Experience with cranes or FLT preferred would be advantageous
