Are you a passionate and resilient individual looking to make a real difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs (SEN)? We are a small, nurturing secondary SEN school dedicated to providing high-quality education and care for our students, and we're looking for a General Teaching Assistant to join our team this September.
About the Role:
As a General Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and other support staff to provide tailored learning support, manage classroom behaviour, and help create a positive, inclusive environment where every student can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
Support students with a range of special educational needs (including ASD, SEMH, ADHD)
Assist in delivering individual and group learning activities
Provide behaviour support in line with the school’s ethos and policies
Help maintain a safe, engaging, and inclusive classroom environment
Work collaboratively with the wider school team, families, and external professionals
What We're Looking For:
We’re seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and resilient individual who is committed to supporting young people with SEN.
The ideal candidate will have:
Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN (desirable but not essential)
Team Teach training or similar positive behaviour support training (preferred)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting behaviour
A flexible, team-focused attitude
