Geoscientist
Location: Oxford, UK
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000
The Role
We are seeking a motivated Geoscientist to join our growing team in Oxford. This role will focus on seismic data processing, interpretation, and analysis, supporting a range of subsurface and energy-related projects.
You will play a key role in transforming raw geophysical data into meaningful insights, contributing to high-quality project delivery across a variety of sectors including energy, infrastructure, and environmental applications.
Key Responsibilities
Process and analyse 2D and 3D seismic datasets using industry-standard software
Apply advanced signal processing techniques to enhance data quality
Perform velocity modelling, migration, and inversion workflows
Interpret seismic data to support subsurface modelling and decision-making
Collaborate with geologists, geophysicists, and engineers on multidisciplinary projects
Ensure data quality control and adherence to project specifications
Produce technical reports, visualisations, and client-ready deliverables
Support continuous improvement of internal workflows and processing techniques
Requirements
Degree in Geophysics, Geoscience, Earth Science, or a related field
2-5 years' experience in seismic data processing (industry or consultancy)
Strong understanding of seismic acquisition and processing workflows
Experience with software such as Petrel, Kingdom, ProMAX, or similar
Knowledge of velocity analysis, stacking, migration, and inversion techniques
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and report-writing skills
Desirable
Experience working on UK or international energy projects
Familiarity with Python, MATLAB, or other data processing tools
Understanding of geological modelling and interpretation
Experience with marine or land seismic data
