Inspector - Goods-In
First Achieve Engineering are working exclusively with a long-standing UK-based engineering manufacturer who are looking to appoint an experienced Inspector - Goods-In to join their Quality team.
This is a hands-on role at the heart of a high-integrity manufacturing process, where your expertise will help ensure all incoming, in-process, and outgoing parts meet the rigorous quality and safety standards expected in heavy engineering sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Perform inspection of incoming goods, in-process parts, and final assemblies prior to shipment using appropriate tools and techniques. All incoming inspections must be completed within 5 working days of arrival.
Conduct quality checks as per the Quality Plan and complete relevant documentation within 3 working days of task completion.
Identify non-conformances, raise CAPAs (Corrective and Preventive Actions) where necessary, and work with internal teams to recommend and implement solutions.
Perform Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) such as Visual Inspection, Positive Material Identification (PMI), Hardness Testing, and Dye Penetrant Testing as required.
Maintain clear and accurate documentation of tests and inspections, ensuring alignment with quality control procedures.
Manage associated admin tasks including report writing, email communication, and CAPA updates.
Maintain strict adherence to health & safety procedures-especially within welding-related environments-and immediately report any hazards or deviations.
Support compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards by following all relevant policies and procedures.
Carry out other reasonable tasks as required by your line manager.
What You'll Need
Eligibility: British Nationality is required (dual nationality permitted, but primary nationality must be British).
HNC/HND in Engineering or related discipline.
Substantial experience in a similar role (quality/inspection within engineering or manufacturing).
Strong understanding of technical drawings and the use of both metric and imperial measuring tools.
Ability to work independently with a solution-focused approach.
High attention to detail and strong analytical thinking.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
Basic IT skills and familiarity with reporting systems.
Desirable
Certification in PMI (Gun).
Experience with Epicor ERP systems.
Familiarity with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
Knowledge of Measurement Systems Analysis.
Experience working to ISO, ASME, NORSOK, PED, or other similar quality standards.
